Stop Playing With God?
As with everything of value, you will have to pay a price to become an effective servant of God. Leaving your comfort zone, going out on a limb, and truly trusting in God is part of the process. Your willingness to learn from failure and the ability to overcome it is linked to one another. You must be continually learning and realizing that you are going to make mistakes over and over again. However, you must be willing to never let failure get you down. A good way to start over from being discouraged is to change. What about a change in your mindset, your little gods, your worship, or even your prayer life?
As you go through this journey, you will have problems. Have you ever thought about having a fresh encounter with the real God? Tradition teaches us that if it is not broken then do not try to fix it. When you truly learn to apply the word of God to your life, you cannot help but have a new encounter with Him. The real God answered Solomon's prayer in 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV) which states, “If My people who are called by My name, will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” It's amazing how God wants us to do the following three things in life so that He will hear, forgive and heal us:
- Become humble, that is confess
- Pray, that is repent
- Turn, that is come back to Him
Today's world has turned its face away from the real God. Many are trying to play God themselves. They are trying to control and intimidate people into doing what they want them to do. When you look around and see people constantly moving away from the real God's presence into their own realm, do you notice how they are putting substitutions in His place? Take a virtual tour in your homes, neighborhoods and churches, people are choosing to allow self, traditional religious deeds, work, relationships and other activities take them away from God. The real God wants us to be obedient to His word. His desire is that we should choose to walk with Him and grow in a relationship that will last forever. Deuteronomy 30:17 and 19 (TNIV) state, “But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them,” 19“This day I call the heavens and the earth as witness against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.”
God wants us to have a more abundant life. He wants us to have a fresh encounter with Him. Please choose God's way. Don't let people who are playing God intimidate you. Instead follow the real God who wants us to humble ourselves, pray, seek His face and turn from our wicked ways.
Be blessed, Todrick Johnson
